Living with a Long Term Condition
Whether you have been recently diagnosed with a long-term condition, or you have been living with your condition for a long time, managing long-term conditions can be tough.
Some people feel overwhelmed by having to manage medications and medical appointments. Some people find it difficult to make lifestyle changes to support their condition.
It is very common for people living with long-term conditions to feel worried, anxious or to experience a low mood at times. But having a long-term condition does not mean you shouldn't be able to enjoy your life!
Having a long-term condition like diabetes, coronary heart disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) or chronic pain can sometimes lead to emotional difficulties like depression and anxiety. You may find that attending appointments, managing medication and generally looking after yourself becomes more challenging.
The Norfolk and Waveney Talking Therapies can help you explore any long-term conditions that you are experiencing and adapt support to take this into account. This may help you feel more able to take control over your physical health whilst also supporting your emotional wellbeing.
