Intimacy, Wellbeing and Mental Health in Relationships

This workshop focuses on intimacy and closeness of couples in a personal relationship.

We look at the different types of intimacy and some of the common problems couples report, such as what stops us being intimate.

We will talk about how to cope with difficult situations, as well as provide actionable tips on how to construct an intimate relationship and how to build more intimacy through communication.

The workshop looks at both our 'physical' and 'emotional' closeness, or often a mix of the two, and we cover issues such as:

What we mean by intimacy

How intimacy builds over time as you connect with someone

How intimacy grows and develops to care about each other

The impact of stress, anxiety and depression on ourselves and our relationships

How intimacy can help couples feel more and more comfortable during their time together

The content of this workshop will be relevant for all types of relationships, regardless of background or sexual orientation, and will suit anyone looking to find proactive ways to strengthen and improve their relationship.

The session is a two-hour online workshop and is run as an informal presentation and discussion. There are lots of opportunities for attendees to ask questions (using the confidential workshop typed questions box) if they want to.

You will need to book in at least 48 hours before a workshop is due to start.

This is a live online presentation, where you log in on your computer, phone or tablet. A clinician will present the workshop via webcam.  You will not be seen by other attendees and you can ask questions to the facilitator in real time via a chat function that is private and not visible to the rest of the group.

This workshop can be accessed by itself or in conjunction with other treatment within the Wellbeing service.

The workshop content focuses on resources and information to help the general public maintain good emotional and psychological wellbeing and is not designed to offer specialist mental health support for those with more severe and enduring mental health problems.
