The Community Development Team

Our Community Development Coordinators arrange and host the many and varied social opportunities that Norfolk and Waveney Talking Therapies organise for people living in Norfolk & Waveney.

They also deliver non-clinical training, run stands at events, and network with other organisations, charities, and businesses in the local community. Read below to see how you can get involved and how to get in contact with us.

What are we here for?

Life can get tough. It happens to us all; some days are more challenging than others and experiencing a mental health challenge is common. Maybe you're waiting for therapy or maybe you're just not quite sure how to move forward in a way that is meaningful to you.

Here at Norfolk and Waveney Talking Therapies we want you to know that we hear you and we know just how frustrating it can be to navigate through support services. We also understand how important it is to feel empowered and to know that there are things you can do NOW to begin your recovery journey. That's why the friendly team here have created a programme of free events, social opportunities and training packages designed to improve your mental health.

We hope these will provide you with the opportunity to connect with others and learn some tools and techniques that can support you in feeling empowered in improving your wellbeing. You are not alone.

Social Events

All of the social events that we run are based upon the '5 Ways to Wellbeing'. These are a set of evidence-based recommendations that, when followed, can improve your mental health and wellbeing. They are: Connect, be active, learn, take notice, and give; and you can find out more about each of these here

The team is always keen to run social activities using input and ideas from you so please get in touch with any ideas you have! Email  CDCTeam@norfolkandwaveneymind.org.uk

Community Events

All the information you need to attend one of the groups in person will be in our events listed below. Our socials are open to anyone aged 16+ with no need to book unless otherwise stated.

Help us maintain a safe and welcoming space at our socials:

  • Respect other people's privacy
  • Share your personal details at your own discretion
  • Be respectful of others' opinions and life
  • Take care when meeting up with people I meet at socials outside of these meetings if you choose to.
  • Take personal responsibility for my own wellbeing

Online Socials

Some of the social events we offer are held online. We will be hosting these via Zoom, and the links to join these socials will be posted in our events listed below. Zoom can be accessed in your browser, downloaded from your PC, or get the app for mobiles. Once you've installed or got the app, check our social media for the links to the socials at the times listed. The Zoom guide can be found  here

Online Social Guidelines

Help us maintain a safe and welcoming space online:

  • Feel free to keep your webcam and microphone off if you wish
  • Feel free to use the chatbox to communicate
  • If you are not talking aim to keep your microphone on mute
  • Try to keep the conversation on the topic
  • Use the 'raise hand' button to avoid talking over each other
  • We have the option to use a 'Breakout Room' if required
  • The host reserves the right to remove participants if needed

Thank you! - From the Community Team

Community Champion Training

Wellbeing Champion Training is an informative workshop and online webinar designed to increase peoples understanding of mental health and Wellbeing and how we can create mental health positive environments in our community. Wellbeing Champions care about where they live and work and understand the importance of talking about mental health and wellbeing. This training is for anyone, but especially useful for organisations such as schools, businesses, charitable or community organisations.

If you would like to improve your understanding of mental health and create a supportive working environment or community, becoming a Wellbeing Champion may be for you. Please contact  CDCTeam@norfolkandwaveneymind.org.uk  to ask any questions or to organise a session of Wellbeing Champion Training if you'd like a bespoke session for your organisation.

We will have regular public sessions available online and in person to attend, which you can  book a place on via our Eventbrite page.

Stand Events and Promotion

The Community Development Team regularly run information stands at local events to share information about the service and develop links with the local community. We also regularly attend other events and organisations to introduce Wellbeing and deliver informative presentations about our service.

If you'd like us to run a stand at one of your events, or come and speak about Wellbeing at an event or to your organisation, then please get in contact:  CDCTeam@norfolkandwaveneymind.org.uk
